Things You Should Know

VIA encourages students to study abroad. However, students should also be aware of several things.

  1. Always keep your money and passport in a safe place.
  2.  Always have a visa for the country you are travelling to.
  3. Always make sure you know how to get from the airport to your homestay, school, etc.
  4. Contact your school or homestay before you leave your country to make sure they know you are coming and when to expect you.
  5. Research your school. Many great schools are not well-known, and famous schools might not provide the education you are hoping for.
  6. Before you register, read the refund policy of your school.
  7. Check if you can change programs after your program starts.
  8. If you have a homestay, check if you can change if you aren't happy.
  9. Does your school have a student coordinator that speaks your language?
  10. Can you take a (free) trial lesson before you register?

These are just a few questions students schould ask themselves. If you have more questions or if we can be of assistance please contact us.
