Study English at VIA in Victoria BC Canada |
The staff and faculty at VIA know that deciding to study abroad is a big decision. And once that decision is made, many more decisions follow. Which season, country, city, school, homestay, etc., all affect the study abroad experience.
For this reason, VIA is located in Canada's warmest city, surrounded by beautiful nature, in a safe environment, with warm and welcoming homestays. Some things to consider when choosing a school:
1. Season: Victoria has the mildest weather in Canada. Summers are warm, winters are not too cold. It rarely snows in Victoria. Named "The Garden City", spring brings cherry blossoms, tulips, and flowers of every kind throughout the city. Autumn often lasts until November, so winters are very short.
2. Countries: Canada is the only country that has equal exposure to British and US English. Students in Canda have the unique opportunity to learn both spellings, yet learn the neutral pronunciation for which Canada is famous.
3. Cities: Victoria has every advantage for students. A mid-sized city of 300,000, Victoria enjoys the benefits of smaller cities, such as safety, opportunities to speak with Canadians, and natural beauty. Yet, it also has big city advantages, such as sophisticated transportation services, world-class entertainement and culture, such as the Royal British Columbia Musuem, The Royal Theatre, Butchart Gardens, and many more. Victoria is also an educational centre, and in addition to language schools, such as VIA, it also has three universities and two colleges.
Victoria also offers a wide range of activities, such as whale-watching, kayaking, sailing, and fishing. Other activities, such as skiing, bungy jumping, and other adventure sports are a short drive from Victoria.
4. Schools: Victoria has wide range of education options. These include public institutes - The University of Victoria and Camosun College, and a number of private universities, colleges, technical schools, and language schools.
VIA focuses on small class sizes, academic excellence, and attention to student needs. VIA is the only private school in Victoria which is an iBT TOEFL and TOEIC test centre, and is incorporated in the Province of British Columbia.
Some of VIA"s advantages are:
a) Price - VIA is one of the least expensive schools in Victoria.
b) Quality - Our standards meet or exceed the requirements of Languages Canada. Our instructors are TESL Canada - certified and very experienced.
c) Course selection - VIA offers Four Skills ESL, Speaking Skills, Test Preparation for TOEFL and TOEIC, and Business English Skills.
d) Start Dates - Most programs can be started any Monday.
5. Homestay: We arrange all our homestays wiith families we know and trust.
We hope this information has been helpful. If you have any questions or if we can be of assistance, please contact us.
